Douglas has 35 years' experience as a painter & decorator and joined the team 3 years ago after his previous employer, with whom he had served for 32 years, retired.
A local man, Douglas has lived in and around Malton all his life. He is a mine of information, especially about his main interests, entomology and ornithology. In his younger days, he was a keen cyclist but nowadays spends much of his leisure time out in the countryside observing the local wildlife.
